Light pollution
Recently this industrial plant got a prize for its lighting, including the lighting of the chimney. The lighting was considered to be an outstanding good example of beautiful and energy-efficient lighting.
For me, it is a good example of light pollution – which I don’t like – especially the lighting of the chimney. The chimney is lighted up from beneath. The consequence is that also the night sky – which was supposed to be dark – is lit up. And then you can’t see the stars any longer. (However, here you are able to see the great planet Jupiter – to the left of the top of the chimney.)
I have chosen to publish this photo today, because you in these days have the possibility to participate in the GLOBE at Night campaign – a campaign for responsible outdoor lighting and a dark night sky.
